Grass Woven Object 4

My name is Elaine Moncrieff. I was born in the town of Meekatharra, WA in 1947. I moved to Carnarvon with my family at a young age. I completed my education in Carnarvon, married and raised four children and am now Ganny to eighteen grandchildren and Great Grand mother to twenty two. In my later years i cared for my invalid father until passing.
For me weaving started as a hobby in 2005. I has since become my passion, creating many pieces of work using fibrous materials, weaving baskets and various other sculptural work.
I find the inspiration for my work through my past years of growing up in the outcamp environment of many stations around the Pilbara and Murchinson areas.
I have had the opportunity to travel, hold workshops and exhibit in Fremantle. I recentl won the Gold Award for a piece entered in the Perth Royal Show.
